We anticipate recent announcements of travel restrictions may impact some participants’ plans to attend the 2021 Universities Australia Conference.

The conference will continue as planned in Canberra. If you are unable to travel to the ACT due to travel restrictions, please contact events@universitiesaustralia.edu.au.

A YEAR OF CHANGE: NAVIGATING A NEW WORLD

Universities Australia warmly welcomes you to the 2021 Universities Australia Conference, taking place at the National Convention Centre in Canberra from 2 - 3 June 2021.

The annual Universities Australia Conference is the signature event on the Australian higher education sector calendar.  The conference is proudly delivered by the sector for the sector. Participants include Vice-Chancellors, Chancellors, senior university representatives, Government representatives, industry representatives, members of the research community, international education specialists and media.

Universities Australia is pleased to bring you an exciting and inspiring list of speakers who are leaders from within Australia and across the globe and come from academia, government, industry and the professions.

CONFERENCE SPEAKERS


The Hon Arthur Sinodinos AO

The Hon. Arthur Sinodinos AO is Australia’s Ambassador to the United States of America, taking up his posting in Washington in February 2020.  Ambassador Sinodinos was previously Australia’s Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science and was a Senator for New South Wales in the Australian Parliament from 2011 to 2019. During his parliamentary career, he also held other key roles in and outside Cabinet, including Cabinet Secretary and Assistant Treasurer.


Professor Ngaire Woods

Professor Ngaire Woods is the founding Dean of the Blavatnik School of Government and Professor of Global Economic Governance at Oxford University. Her research focuses on how to enhance the governance of organizations, the challenges of globalization, global development and the role of international institutions and global economic governance. She founded the Global Economic Governance Programme at Oxford University, and co-founded (with Robert O.Keohane) the Oxford-Princeton Global Leaders Fellowship programme. She led the creation of the Blavatnik School of Government.


Ms Danielle Wood

Danielle is the CEO of the Grattan Institute. She believes in the power of public policy to make Australia a better place. Danielle has published extensively on economic reform priorities, budget policy, tax reform, generational inequality and reforming political institutions. She is a sought-after media commentator and speaker on policy issues.Danielle previously worked at the ACCC, NERA Economic Consulting and the Productivity Commission. She holds an Honours degree in Economics from the University of Adelaide and Masters degrees in Economics and Competition Law, from the University of Melbourne.Danielle is the National President of the Economic Society of Australia and co-founder and former Chair of the Women in Economics Network.
